Google has removed 60 games from the Play Store after security firm Checkpoint discovered a bug that displayed ads for porn within the games. Many of the games were aimed at young children.
Checkpoint identified three main ways in which this malware, named Adult Swine, could cause trouble for users. The first is in the nature of the ads themselves. These ads are often pornographic in nature, which many would find inappropriate in any game, let alone those aimed at children. The ads come from the pages of mainstream ad providers that forbid their content from being used in this manner. The second source of ads is the malwares own ad libraries, which are where the porn ads come from.
Finding ads for porn in childrens games would be bad enough, but there are bigger problems with Adult Swine than that. One such problem is the practice of using deceptive ads in order to trick users. Users will get a pop-up saying that their device has been infected with a virus. Upon clicking the prompt, they will be taken to an app in the Play Store. The apps themselves are not anti-virus software, and may even be harmful in and of themselves.

I think Apple needs to take a look at this as well. It may not be the same virus but starting last week Ive had similar issues with a couple of their game apps on an iphone.
Did you get ads in specific Apps on an iPhone, or just apps in general? Porn? Generally one doesn't get ads. . . much less porn. If I were you, I'd call 1-800-my-Apple and report the offending Apps. These may not be a virus but an ad server that has mis-behaving participating advertising companies. I've seen that even from Google's rotation with bad scripts in ads that take over the entire screen. Keep us posted as what's happening and your results with the call to Apple. Thanks.
Gee, big shock.
This is why I don’t like children with their “own” tablets and stuff.
I’m irritated now that iPad doesn’t allow us to remove Safari (internet) from the tablet.
Why? Safari can be sequestered and or locked out by parental controls. If you prefer another browser there are many to choose from.
problem is tech savvy kids will get around parental block. I know of one way right off the bat that you can get around the parental block, set the device back to factory settings then reload off the cloud all the programing including anything that was blocked through parental block code.
Only if the KID has been given the CODE to unlock the parental locks. Otherwise that doesn't work. Parental block locks those things out.
My husband is great at this stuff, and we have 2 brand-new iPads. One is for my son. I asked about this. He said the only thing we can do is allow specific sites. So I guess the icon is there but he can’t do anything unless we approve and specify a site. Does that sound right?
Exactly. There are even means to lock down an iPad to only specific apps. We do that in my office for an iPad that is used for patient check in, medical history entry, etc. Browsing is not even allowed.
Use a specific AppleID with a password which your son doesn't know and he cannot change a thing on it.
