Maybe these people love their dogs more than I love mine. Dunno.
Incident in my supermarket:
Chihuahua with a *service* vest....walking on floor [w/ a woman w/ children]. Dog lifts its leg and pees on the products on the lowest shelf.
With competition for every grocery dollar, as a cranky olde lady, I knew if I complained, the store manager would do nothing about this problem b/c the owner was a person of color.
Incident in 5-star restaurant in a Maine resort:
[I've observed that Maine has become very dog-friendly in many respects, in my travels.]
Table next to us; a lap dog is sitting on the chair at the table; owner is feeding it scraps off the plate in front of the dog. Waiter ignores the scene.
Life goes on.
They are an obnoxious nuisance.
True service dogs are well trained and very well behaved. Anything else is just a dog.
Actual service animals are working dogs and have been trained from a very early age not to interact with others.
