Deputy FBI Director McCabe steps down: reports
The Hill ^ | 1/29/2017 | Avery Anapol

Posted on 01/29/2018 10:04:14 AM PST by Signalman

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was expected to retire in the coming months, is stepping down, according to multiple reports.

A career civil servant who was appointed deputy director in 2016, McCabe has been a frequent target of Republicans alleging systemic bias against President Trump at the top tiers of the bureau.

McCabe oversaw the controversial investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server. The GOP has accused him of a conflict of interest in that case because his wife accepted nearly $500,000 in political donations from Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe in a state legislature bid that predated the investigation.

The Washington Post first reported McCabe's intention to retire when he became eligible for pension benefits, in early March. Trump, who has been among McCabe's fiercest critics, characterized the move as "racing the clock to retire with full benefits."

A spokesperson for the FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump as early as July had called for McCabe's ouster, demanding, "Why didn't A.G. Sessions replace Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a Comey friend who was in charge of Clinton investigation?"

"How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?" he tweeted in December.

As a civil servant, McCabe cannot be fired without clear evidence of wrongdoing.

According to documents release by the bureau in November, although McCabe recused himself from state corruption cases in Virginia as a result of his wife's candidacy, he was not warned by bureau officials to step back from the Clinton investigation.

Then the assistant director in charge of the Washington field office, McCabe "provided personnel resources" to the email investigation but "was not told what the investigation was about" until he was appointed deputy director—months after the Virginia election had concluded.

McCabe briefly ran the bureau after Trump fired former director James Comey, prior to the appointment of current director Chris Wray.

He has weathered one of the most controversial periods in the FBI's history, as Republicans have continued to argue that it inappropriately tried to tip the scale in Clinton's favor in the 2016 election.

He skyrocketed back into the public view after a series of texts from a former member of special counsel Robert Mueller’s team added fuel to Republican claims of bias at the bureau.

The agent, Peter Strzok, disparaged political figures of both parties in the texts, including Trump, whom he called an “idiot.” The agent was removed from Mueller's team earlier this year.

Republicans are also seeking to make public a controversial memo authored by committee chair Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) alleging surveillance abuses at the Department of Justice. McCabe is reported to be mentioned by name in the document.

“Andrew McCabe cuts across every facet of every investigation in 2016 that your viewers are interested in from Secretary Clinton’s emails to the investigation into the Trump campaign,” Gowdy told Fox News in December.

He gets his full pension just like Lois Lerner, smirking all the way to the bank.

Word is he didn’t step down voluntarily....
....he was ‘let go’

....this was the last day he could get his pension
I suppose his wife and two children will appreciate it while he’s in jail

And why shouldn’t he go to jail?
Nixon’s cabinet did!
Haldeman, Erlichman, Coulson, etc

Article I read is that he was fired BUT is still on the payroll until March so he can keep his benefits. What a load, why give him a golden parachute if he was a bad actor worthy of being fired?

Screw his pension. He should have been fired 100%. Then let him take the USG to court if he does not like it.

So MaCabe gets a two month paid vacation until the date his pension is fully vested. Typical of the Feds and all governments here.

Don’t cry for this puke. He will land a “connected” half million dollar per year job somewhere while collecting an FBI pension of at least $100,000 per year.

I hear he was “removed”, he can sit at home and run out the clock for his pension but he no longer has any duties

At this point, who the f*ck really cares? Someone tell me, please. He’s another, Lois Lerner. Go before Congress, not answer any questions, stonewall, commit crimes, lie and then retire with a taxpayer funded pension and move into some high paying corporate job, that he’s actually unqualified for, but because he has, FBI Retired, after his name, he’ll get it.

And, when he goes to bbq’s with his DC friends, he’ll laugh about what he did and how he got away with it. How he should have retired sooner, to go into the private sector to make all the money he’s making now.

The whole thing is a giant joke and we, The People, are the punchline in all of it.

He’s not losing pay. He’s on the payroll through March. He has enough accumulated leave. This is civil service we’re talking about.

Just heard a former Assistant Director of the FBI say that “Wray has said from the beginning that he wasn’t going to do the President’s bidding.”. Won’t do his boss’ bidding? He’s part of the exectuive branch and serves at the pleasure of POTUS. These miserable sons of swamp dwellers are behaving as though they’re some sort of separate branch of government that’s above the other three. They disobey the chief executive, ignore demands from congressional oversite committies and pretty much do whatever they can to obstruct anything that isn’t in line with their leftist ideology. They all need to go. And some need to go to prison.

OMG, I just read he was escorted out. did not resign!

I dunno. It's now SOP, when a person leaves under any circumstances, including routine retirement, for his last act to be turning in his ID at HR. Someone from HR then escorts him out of the building. It's a little graceless but there's a lot of information encoded on the chips on modern government ID's, so they're more careful than they used to be.

If you do a Google search, the search results will show it. But if you go to the link, that’s text has been removed.

Here’s an example:

He used the FBI to allow children to be raped
and their organs sold.
Why does he get any pension?

He used the FBI to allow an Ambassador to raped
and murdered in Benghazi to give weapons to al Qaeda.
Why does he get any pension?

Yes, and likely with a leftist law firm, like the one Eric Holder is at. They look out for their own (unless their own necks are on the line).
