Like mummery or not (I don’t), it’s a folk tradition that goes back hundreds of years.

And it has nothing to do with “cross dressing”.

Seriously. Mummers Parades go back to 1901 officially and no one knows how long unofficially...there are complaints about it through the 1800s and they may well go back to the 1700s.

It’s the oldest folk parade in the United States. FOLK parade. Plumbers, electricians, salt-of-the-earth people who get together and learn their parts. Not some corporate ad gimmick like the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade.

It’s a classic and authentically American tradition. But the national media never gave a rat’s patoot about it.

I condemn the vulgarity as well, but you’re pretty much proving Kelce’s point with that crack against what he’s wearing. If you don’t like it, well we don’t care. We have our traditions and we’re proud of them.

Didn’t they have 3 black panther fists? OTOH, they beat the Patriots.
Have to give them a ‘Thank You’ for that.
Learned about the victory the same as all the other scores of the NFL this year, a crawl line the next morning.

Sorry for my comments!
Far be it for me to deride another’s heritage. Just never heard of “Mummers” and not with the SB!
Just thought it was another “look at me” “I'm Out” group celebration.

As with the “kneelers” I thought it was another “aggrieved group” “seeking attention”.

Many Pardons!

The reason it is so refreshing to hear a professional athlete when they express humility and gratitude is because it is so rare in our modern culture. From my experience Jason Kelce represents the typical professional athlete - arrogant and self absorbed.

No problem FRiend...I apologize as well for being punchy about it. I fully admit the idea of blue collar guys donning sequins and ostrich feathers and learning dance routines every year is pretty flipping odd. :)

Maybe if the media actually acknowledged the parade’s existence, more people around the country would actually know what a great American tradition it is.
