Then, of course, there’s the headline reporting the most heinous crime ever committed in the animal kingdom: Panda Eats, Shoots and Leaves.

Sometimes, signs should have commas:
Slow children
Slow, children

That’s pretty much true.
Except for Shatner.
With, Shatner, every ... third ... or fourth, comma, is, replaced ... with, an ellipsis.
The, ellipsis is ... essential to, the trademark...
“Pregnant Pause... Plus... Excess Angst.”

BRAIN TEASER: Punctuate this properly:
John where James had had had had had had had had had had had the teacher's approval
ANSWER: John, where James had had "had," had had "had had". "Had had" had had the teacher's approval.

I guess there should be a comma in “Beam me up, Scotty.”
Somehow, “Beam me up Scotty” just doesn’t seem right.

All I know is that a preposition is not a proper word to end a sentence with. Fake news. That preposition rule is a myth propagated by overworked elementary school teachers

LOL!
Talk about timing.
I just gave my own nasty little rip a cupful of superworms.
She was ‘pleasant’ while eating and then went back to despising me with the white hot intensity of a thousands suns.

None of that is worth anything without the attendant brow sweat and dramatic punctuation of gesticulations.

NIce addition to the conversation. Technically, without context - if there is any context - either are fine. Even with context, depending on what that match even, either could be correct.

I remember reading about a President who accused his secretary of wasting the taxpayers commas. Wish I could remember who and when...

This thread has the potential to become epic, at least with the subset of FReeper with whom I could claim a certain affinity.
BTW (the audience shudders), does anyone remember the title of that 5x7, 2 inch thick grammar book used in English classes back in the good old days? I think I could actually understand it now.
