Oxford Comma Dispute Is Settled as Maine Drivers Get $5 Million

Ending a case that electrified punctuation pedants, grammar goons and comma connoisseurs, Oakhurst Dairy settled an overtime dispute with its drivers that hinged entirely on the lack of an Oxford comma in state law.

The dairy company in Portland, Me., agreed to pay $5 million to the drivers, according to court documents filed on Thursday.

Which of these is the correct use or non-use of an apostrophe?

B. You have to milk it for all its worth.

It could be either depending upon the meaning and the intended part of speech of “worth.”

They’re both grammatically correct.

One talks about the act of milking until it’s gone,
while the other is concerned with how much milk is available for the milking.

All I know is that a preposition is not a proper word to end a sentence with.

When I proof my writing I remove all commas which are not required for clarity or effect. My editor insists on the Oxford comma so that is what I use.

Side note: I once earned a living driving for a Creamery.

“Here at Stanford, we don’t end sentences with a preposition.”

Texan:
