By the bye, it appears that the more common name ‘Baxter’ derives from the same original term.

It’s kind of fun looking stuff up, running down clues. But before we could Google and Bing, one had to actually be well-read and with the kind of education that conferred more than mere knowledge, to do certain jobs. It was probably more fascinating then.

Totally agree. There is a problem with the net, though. Back when it took time and money to “publish” information, there was a natural need to try to do everything one could to ensure it was correct.

As demonstrated by the Q BS, with the effortless internet, now there is no need to get it right, and even a perverse (for perverse people) need to lie to others.
