Clearly a hazard to flight. The captain failed in his legal duty to protect his passengers.

I can’t believe this until I see the entire 8-hour unredacted video!

Please arrest the child for disorderly conduct & mother for child abuse. If a dad is involved, toss his a$$ off the plane, mid-flight.

Its pretty clear to me the child has some kind of autism or developmental delay. The non-stop energy, and non-variant, non-verbal screeching is a key sign, particularly for a child of his age/ size. Also, his total inability to be confined is a signal.

Perhaps mom simply didn’t know what to expect when she took him on the flight

What if he had autism? The parent may not know, he’s only three. What if he was her first child and she didn’t know if she was doing something wrong or what? I don’t know why one would be forced to travel with a child who couldn’t handle it (maybe a funeral or something) and the poor parent wouldn’t find out until after trying a first flight. But at this point perhaps she needs medical help to sedate him somewhat (a tegretol patch might do it, but you have to be so careful medicating a child so far from hospitalization, and you’d need to sedate him first on a practice day closer to medical help ) for the ride home, and try never to fly with him until he is much older.

I have been there and I do understand that a new parent doesn’t have the dx or understand the special needs of her child yet. I feel bad for all involved.

I watched part of this video.

When my kids were young, I would not have permitted them to act out like this. If they acted out like this, they would quickly feel the Wrath of Daddy.

Mr. Mercat always carries duct tape. We were on a Lufthansa flight in 2016 when the air conditioning started leaking. The attendant said , ah, ya, it happens sometimes. It will stop soon. But meanwhile several passengers were getting quite wet. Mr. M passed them some duct tape and the taped the area shut. We got free champagne.

Maybe part of the plane’s emergency equipment should be a case of Benadryl.

It works for me.

Kids, even 3 year olds, are not stupid. Offer him a choice, sit quietly and play with the iPad or sleep, or get a spanking. No need to force it on the kid, let him choose.

Some children have a paradoxical reaction to Benadryl; they get hyper instead of sedated. Which is a good reason to do a trial before a flight.

I would be very hesitant to offer a parent medication for a child. What if there were an unknown allergy or adverse reaction?

Mr. GG2 who used to work for Boeing building the interior s fixed the drink cart and an oven in the kitchen on one flight and they moved him to first class. :-)

I disagree. I GUARANTEE you that this level of behavior had previously manifested itself in other situations requiring the child to be static for any period of time. It didn't require just stepping onto a plane for the first time to trigger this.

If this had been the first time ever that the mother had observed this behavior in Junior she would have been crying for help and desperate for any assistance at seeing this level of extended out of control behavior for the first time. Instead, she tried to "manage" while being oblivious to the impact of this extremely disruptive behavior.
