In general, that is probably true. I really don't think it would bother most people as their curiosity would override their fear.

However, some would just go nuts.

I think that is why the AIRLINES don't want TV coverage of a crash displayed on TV's at the airports. Too many nuts.

Back to your question of money going both ways...

I think CNN offered to avoid broadcasting Airline crashes and Airports only allow CNN on TV’s in the airport.

A mutual (and monetarily profitable) agreement for both parties.
