On December 12, my life changed forever.
I became aware that my name was on a “List of Men to Avoid,” compiled by a fellow student at Middlebury College, Elizabeth Dunn. It included the names of male students who had allegedly violated the boundaries of female students at Middlebury, based on accusations sent to Dunn on Facebook.

A subscription to the collective-guilt all-men-are-evil progressive mentality is not a good look on you.
I might not slam you for that viewpoint, but I think you would have to agree that the changing metrics of what defines “assault” is a major problem with the extrajudicial approach being taken by the Left.
If I went to college 30 years ago and did something that was acceptable by those standards (but not by today’s “standards”) and a woman from an encounter 30 years ago is convinced by someone or something that a wrong was done to her and she puts an article in the newspaper about it today, ruining my life or career, do I have to “deal with that”?
I understand the personal responsibility aspect, but sex is one of the strongest biological drives in nature, and a 19 year old male is a quivering tuning fork for the opposite sex. People destroy their lives, their marriages, their careers, betray their country for sex, and will even put their live in danger for sex.
Do we really want to allow this extrajudicial, ad-hoc hodgepodge of “standards” to affect anyone’s life at all?
I agree 100%, but especially more so in today’s day and age.
Not “even in our liberated age”, you should have said “ESPECIALLY in our liberated age” because there is only one kind of liberation I see going on, and that is the liberation to accuse anyone based on constant and unregulated change to “standards”.
Sir I was just being realistic about it taking in account the current perception, forgive me if you took it the wrong way and I personally do not subscribe to some collective guilt that all men are evil.

Some of my partners may have felt uncomfortable during sex but that was due to technical/artistic incompetence on my part, not lack of willingness or consent on their part.

I have no sympathy at all. Get married if you want to have a lot of sex. You can still be charged with rape by your wife on a whim but the chances are fewer.

I agree that there are a lot of apparent drawbacks to this current environment.
I do feel quite strongly that being accused of rape, in publicly acceptable (apparently) venues with no evidence, no recourse, and no judicial process should NOT be one of those drawbacks.

There was a time when there were ‘social stigmas’ that were applied to people whos behaviors were considered unacceptable. That too was an ‘extrajudicial’ process. This door swings in both directions. So the #metoo folks need to be real careful what kind of #PandorasBox they open up.
Leftists have never been all that keen when it comes to long term thinking in that respect.
The current Mueller investigation may indeed be one of those Pandora’s Boxes they will come to regret ever trying to open up.

I’m absolutely outraged at the attitude of Ms. Dunn, the founder of this list, in her response to those who want to defend themselves. She states she doesn’t want to engage with them because it would cause her some ‘labor’ and to quit trying to engage. But the absolute worst is that she thinks that is worth a “LOL”.
This woman causes havoc in people’s lives and then dismisses their responses because it would interrupt her busy life. And isn’t that funny? No, Ms. Dunn, that isn’t funny.
Yer funny, lol.
