I read something on another thread the other day that said if the cops can’t muster up the nerve to go into a school where it’s clearly their job to take a gun away from one untrained psychotic kid, who really expects them to go door to door taking guns away from motivated people who know how to shoot and have been in many cases been trained by the US military?

There are typically between 10 and 45 police officers per 10k citizens with the average being around 20 per 10k. About 3500-6000 (or more depending on the state) of the people are armed. If only 10% are going to refuse to be disarmed, those 20 officers are going to have to dynamically enter 300-650 homes and try to disarm people who aren’t willing to be disarmed. The air will go out of even the most gungho ninja wannabe cop after the first 3 or 4 homes. Then the civil war would start and the targets would become the politicians who sent the cops.
For this reason the left knows that an immediate confiscation order would end up in a civil war where a lot of them would end up dead. Instead, they are willing to pass anti-gun laws one at a time until they feel comfortable enough to outlaw ALL transfers. In the mean time, the kids will be indoctrinated to snitch on their parents and grandparents and will turn in their guns like good little socialists.
To piggy back on your comment, libs will tell you that it is impossible to find and deport 30 million illegal aliens. Yet they believe that finding and confiscating over 300 million firearms is completely doable.
Another point I bring up when I hear that citizens with rifles cannot stop the U.S. Military is that they should talk with the Afghans.
They stopped Napoleon, the Soviets, and we have been there since 2001 and it seems like no end is in sight. The Afghans have little more than rifles themselves.
