It was after Ray Kroc died, and I can tell you from the view of someone on the inside, it was a whole new world, and not a good one.

I had the experience once of Ray visiting our location, once was enough, he had astronomical standards. I believe Ray would have told them to go play with themselves.

It must have been about 1977 or so that he visited the store I was working at. It was a surprise. I had no idea who he was, but I was supposed to be mopping the front area and my manager was standing next to an older guy. I mopped near them and my manager snapped at me about doing that someplace else. The old man turned on him and read him the riot act about encouraging and supporting young men who were willing to work for a living.

It wasn't until afterwards that I was told who the old man was and how badly I embarrassed my manager. Makes me smile 40 years later.
