He's a 1000 miles from his family and he lives alone(well, not counting Dr. Dolittle's pets). It won't be easy...only hope he has a good team of(local)medical/support people around him(including work/church).
Other arrangements all depend on further diagnosis/treatments right now(whatever it takes).
After I responded, I recalled your recent thread.
This cant be easy for you while so far away. Perhaps you can see if your brother will sign a release so you can speak to the dr as well. He has a lot going on, and may miss some information.
I just recall that it was helpful for someone to help me out with note taking while I was in the hospital. Another option would be to see if you can be conferenced in on the follow up with the dr. You can ask questions, etc. hopefully, your brother will be receptive to this as well as his dr. No two drs feel the same from experience. . Just want to offer a suggestion As an alternative way to support him since there will be a lot of information.
