I’ve been riding Harley’s & old Triumph’s for 54 years, and never had an interest in a chopper although my ‘97 Wide Glide with the front rake and skinny front tire is about as close to a chopper that Harley ever made.

Choppers are totally for show, not for go. The few who ride them regularly (hardtails) destroy their lower backs and their handling borders on dangerous.

The chopper market totally tanked many years ago - and people couldn’t give them away. Lots of chopper builders tanked - Big Dog, etc. My nephew - who rarely rides - picked up a low mileage O.C.C. bike a couple years ago for $13k and he got ripped- but he had to have it because it was O.C.C.

All three Tuetuls total IQ equals maybe 100 when you factor in maturity.

The spikes are meant to look like the Oculus, which is a building that is on the site of the former WTC, which includes a communter rail station and a shopping mall.

It is an ugly building that screams "LOOK AT ME!!!"

It has zero to do with the former WTC, and mostly serves as a vanity project for the architect. Plus, if you want to buy your Old Navy distressed jeans in the site of a national tragedy, it's great.

Why does this picture remind me of Doris on “Everybody Loves Raymond?”

It is ugly and tremendously out of place there.

Boomers bought them 15 - 20 years ago. No our backs have had it and can't stand the strain.

Speak for yourself. Still riding and hope to for at least 20 more years. I'm at the young end of the boomer gen though. I may not ride as far but I still ride as often.

Do I have to wear a pussy hat to be allowed in that building?

It’s Lower Manhattan. If you’re not wearing a hardhat, the pussy hat is implied.

I don’t know if I’d call the US motorcycle market booming. Sales are still roughly half of what they were ten years or so ago.

As for the slow heavy clumsy antiques, Harley still outsells the next closest competitor (Honda) two to one in the US market.

The median age of a new motorcycle buyer is 47. Harley, Ducati, Honda and BMW are all trying to court the younger crowd with new 300-500cc models. Presumably, these would be good for another rising demographic: females. Harley already has 60% of their sales incidentally.

Harley is even going for the high tech route with an electric bike. I don’t have any particular comment on that. Not a bike for me.

For the record, I have three Hondas (RC51, CR250R & XR650R) and one Harley (FXSTC). Love them all.

Hit a hard bump on that bike and spear your abdomen at the same time.

Yes, they both were, and I watched neither one. I do have a Red Jacket AKM that was built by the guy that quit and went to work for Rifle Dynamics and it is a very nice piece. I had it three or four years before the show started.
