Bacon’s back on the slab, as the fifth annual Oakland Bacon and Beer Festival is set to sizzle Saturday.
e There will be more than six degrees of beer and bacon at this Saturday’s pig-out known as the Oakland Bacon and Beer Festival. A fat lot of caterers, chefs, and microbrew maestros will take over Jack London Square and bring home the bacon for an afternoon of all-you-can-eat, all-you-can drink pig partying.
A Who’s-Who of Bay Area baconators like The Gastropig, The GrilledCheezGuy, Crave BBQ, Saucy Oakland and a whole bunch more will be hamming it up with an array of bacon bites. Last year’s festival featured gourmet indulgences like corndogged pork belly, barbecue spiced chicharrones, and bacon toffee chocolate chip cookies.
Your beer list includes brews from Lagunitas Brewing Co., Bison Organic Beer, Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, Alameda Island Brewing Company, and more than a dozen others.
The annual event at the Market Building at Jack London Square is a fundraiser for Oakland Grown, a nonprofit that supports independent businesses and artists in Oakland.
Tickets to the event are $45, but you can try to win a pair of free tickets from FuncheapSF if you enter their contest before 12 Noon PST on Thursday, March 8. According to Oakland Grown on Twitter, you can also also get free admission if you volunteer to help set up the festival.

Hey, if you are going to BBQ bacon and provide beer then you should toss a slab of pork ribs on there.

The organizers need to be inclusivre of those who are unable or unwilling to pay or work. Bridges, not walls!
