I’m not talking about just the past or history. China as of today is *not* “gaining” freedom. The government is getting more strict, not less. Xi just became dictator for life, even though it does not matter anyway as the Commie’s rule everything. The government is cracking down on freedom of speech even harder, limiting what they can read, see, and hear. They are cracking down on every facet of Chinese life.

We will have to disagree. I have had discussions with Chinese students here and their expectations of the of their government in the future are very interesting.

For example, early on, the government owned all the housing and paid the maintenance which even the Chinese government learned didn’t work. So they leased purchased to the people. Maintenance improved and I think the leases end approx 2020. In their mind they own it, have worked hard for it, and aren’t going to give it up easily.

There are a lot of things under the radar that are not in the common media. Time will tell.

We all have to step back and count our blessings once in a while, including me.

I think up to a certain point, it is prudent to prepare against an impending disaster to save your family and home.

But at my age, my family is grown and I've probably got 10 years left, I'm guessing.

My view is that eventually, a fella's gotta take a break and sit back and contemplate a long life well lived. The end's gonna come soon enough for all of us.

I fully understand what you are saying. On the other hand I am thankful our founding fathers thought differently...........

Based on historical timetables, we urged friends in Venezuela to leave, almost fifteen years ago.

They didn’t, as they (foolishly) believed it couldn’t happen there.

Now, they are stuck. If they’re even still alive. We lost contact with their family about five years ago :-(

If you’re stocking up on food, why not stock up on tequila and powdered lime? (There is such a thing, so I’ve heard ;-)

Canada? My point and the point of the article was that you can’t prep enough for a socialist takeover. You either fight to stop it, or you get out, or you embrace the suck and join the party.

Canada? Are you serious?

You want to see how fast someone can seal off a border if they really want to?

They'd never let that many people go to Canada, which is more socialist than us anyways, and I doubt Canada would be willing to accept all the non-socialist refugees from the US.

Well I’m not really trying to argue just for the sake of arguing. I really do not see what you seem to be saying. For starters, there is really no such thing as “Chinese” people. There are a dozens of different nations living in the boundaries of China and not all of them like each other. There are hundreds of different languages and dialects. The Han majority has managed to impose most of it’s will on the rest but many of these people don’t even consider themselves “Chinese” so it’s a complicated situation.

Further, Chinese “students” have been supposedly changing the future of China for generations now, and have not done so. I remember when the Tiananmen Square incident happened even though I was very young. It was supposed to usher in a new China, but it did not. I remember when we were told that economic prosperity would lead to more freedom and then it did not. I remember when we were told that welcoming China into the world system would bring about an end to communism and then it did not. For China, the future is always just that-THE FUTURE.

Now that the government is clamping the screws down tighter, no rational person could say they are getting more free.

Did you ever expect communism to end in USSR? In hindsight we can see some of the underpinnings. We woke up in the morning ,read the newspaper and learned the USSR was kuput. NOBODY wanted to put the centralized government back together. Once freedoms started there, it couldn’t be put back in the bottle.

Yet, here in the USA we willingly give up freedom for “safety”.

It very much depends on the trend of freedom, having much we give it up, having little, it is cherished and fought for.

No, I’m not. Scroll back to my post around #47.

But, in answer to your questions: the socialism doesn’t really scare me as much as the Progressive vilification of the white man PLUS socialism.

To the white man, they would become the Soup Nazi in this country.

Not the way America will go. The cultural pieces are in place to make white males anathema in the new socialist USA. In a society where your food supply and rights are regulated by the state, being the “source of all problems” is REALLY bad.

If America goes socialist, humanity crumbles into barbarism anyway.

One of the most profound, obvious, and absolutely true statements on the internet. The Democrat Party is dedicated to turning America socialist, and for that reason, and your point stated above, the Democrat Party is the enemy not just of America, but of all mankind.

GARDENING IS A GOOD SKILL TO HAVE

Given the huge amount of Roundup residue in our food supply, E-coli outbreaks, etc. we decided to transition to growing our own food as much as possible.

This give a double benefit of being able to grow our own food if SHTF, and takes care of our kitchen waste with composting.

Below is a list of easy-to-grow vegetable and fruit varieties that will also provide a balanced amount of nutrition:

Allium varieties – A good source of dietary fiber, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, folate and potassium

Berries – High in antioxidants, vitamin C

Beans – Beans are very high in fiber, calcium, Vitamins A, C, and K

Broccoli – Broccoli is a good source of protein, Vitamins A and K, and carbohydrates

Carrots – This root crop is a good source of carbohydrates, vitamin A, vitamin C

Grains – Grains are a good source of carbohydrates, are high in dietary fiber and manganese

Peppers – High in vitamin A and C

Potatoes – Potatoes are high in fiber, Vitamin B6, Potassium and Vitamin C and a good source of carbohydrates

Spinach – Many call this a superfood based upon its large array of vitamins such as Vitamin A, C, iron, thiamine, thiamine, and folic acid.Potassium

Tomatoes – Tomatoes are a good source of Vitamin A, C, K, E, Potassium, thiamine, and Niacin

Don’t forget, that dandelions are edible - food can be disguised and less obvious by using plants such as this.

Add Alaska to the list of places to fight from. Of all the states, it is in the best position to secede. And the terrain is inhospitable enough that it would be hard for any military to conquer.

This thread has been an interesting read, but one thing I have noticed is the lack of mention for preparing by all people to meet their Maker.

We all die someday, be it from socialism induced starvation, firing squad, islam beheading , or simply old age.

Not one of us makes it out of here alive.

The one thing that gives me a little hope for this country is what I’ve been hearing reported that the millennial generation is actually supposed to be more conservative than their parents.

I know plenty of people who are raising good solid conservative kids and hopefully as Trump continues to defy the media and the hysteria they portray him with, they will see for themselves what really works.

The other thing is, we can see what’s happening and we are armed. The biggest fear I have is that the right is so used to being nice and civilized, that we may not act soon enough to stop this madness.

At some point we have to say *ENOUGH* and take back our government, by force if necessary. And it may mean doing what most would not want to see, but to the point of executing traitors again.

Yup. I spent 275 today for the food a family of three will use up in a week. And I bought basics at Sam's and Wally World. Only splurge was a gallon of Neapolitan for $5.70

Guillotines from orbit, starting with media ... sadly, I am growing convinced that America is lost. The Ayers style of public education has dumbed down too many across two generations.

BTW, wasn't Ayers hired in Venezuela as an education consultant?

greeneyes :" GARDENING IS A GOOD SKILL TO HAVE "

I enjoyed your nutritional synopsis of vegertables and garden plants
and found your hotlink to ' Nigella Sativa (black cumin, Roman coriander, etc.)' quite interesting and medically informative.

Many people think that because they have seed for garden vegetables, that they are protected from famine... not true !
However, most don't realize that the seed that they have saved from 'store bought' vegetables is hybridized seed and won't be true when replanted.
Heirloom seeds on the other hand are tried, true, and have a history of sustainability, having been handed down for many generations.
That is why long-term seed canned storage has heirloom seeds, only; they have adapted to many plant diseases, blight, drought, and drowning.
That is why you should include heirloom seeds in your prepper storage plans.
