If a chimp is only 2% genetically different from a human, what in the world has he become at 7% different?

Latest info might indicate genetic closeness at about 70 to 85 percent. It really depends how they measure similarities...faster and better techniques might show even more variation...Note: I have heard humans and bananas share 50% of their genes...
