A 13-year-old girl was arrested Friday (March 16) on a charge of terrorizing after she lied to administrators at a Kenner middle school about a school shooting threat, according to the Kenner Police Department.
The girl "intentionally communicated" to Roosevelt Middle School officials that she had received a Snapchat message threatening that a shooting would occur either at Roosevelt Middle or another site, said Kenner police spokesman Lt. Brian McGregor.
An investigation by Kenner police, along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and federal officials, showed that the teen never received any such threat, McGregor said.
School officials called parents Friday to notify them that a threat had been reported, the threat was not credible and that the students were safe, Kenner police said.
The teen was taken to the Jefferson Parish juvenile jail, pending a continued custody hearing.
Kenner Police School Resource Officer Larry Cosse is in charge of the investigation.
Reports of school shooting threats, mostly made through social media, have surged nationwide since the Feb. 14 mass shooting that killed 17 students and teachers at Marjory Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Fla.

So they are arresting 13 year old kids over hoaxes but the kid who’s a real threat gets ignored by every law enforcement agency that was notified about him.
It’s like they WANTED a school shot up for some reason.

I also remember bomb hoaxes and fire alarms pulled. They were and still are very serious offenses. The difference today is that people in charge have lost their minds over being proactive and overreact to everything. We had a local High School shut down for a day over a threat. I am not minimizing events but the copycat phenomenon always happens and they have their mentally ill/criminal reasons or just want to miss a test. Social Media takes it to another level.

We had one day in high school. Near the end of the school year. As we walked away from the building, students were guessing who pulled the prank. No one took it particularly seriously.

No, I’d make it a no computer and no internet situation for five years, or until she graduates high school. If she breaks the situation in any way....haul her off for six weeks of some kind of youth-jail, and give her a second chance.
This is local for me and, personally, I think the kids who do this should be named. It’s not harmless fun. If anything maybe we’re seeing future mental cases outing themselves. Good- identify and get them out of schools.
From her family and their thinking, a likely political act in my view; keep the media in sync with the narrative of the line of march.
