Thanks. Noticed the updates for the core apps recently and figured this was on the way.

Every release since 1984 “improves the stability.” You’d think by now it would be rock solid, bulletproof, 100% stable.

Like Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say...

It’s always something.

Actually, the OS of today are way way better than the ones of the 1990's when a single memory fault in the code would smoke the whole OS and require a reboot. Good times.

Thanks for letting us know. Almost 3 GB required. That’s a lot! And a PIA at that. Took considerably longer to upload than my MacBook promised. About 50% longer.

I’ve had my MacBook Pro more than a year now. Have to say it’s not at all worth the premium price. Runs warm, very short battery life. Lots of nice features, but I only mention the bad stuff for those who are considering purchasing a new MacBook Pro.

My recommendation is don’t...

I really get tired of such frequent OS updates and Application updates and checking which is compatible with which. And I have 12 users in our business to keep on the train. That’s not a lot I know, but we have mission critical stuff that breaks.

I would like off the train - or at least have it slow down. And I feel like half the time it’s doing this to support some new phone wiz-bang that i couldn’t care less about.

I’m old.

Some of us neglect to check compatibility with all apps. I realize this info is of no use to your situation, but it might help people with a single Mac. When I migrated to High Sierra, I lost access to an important app with an expensive update cost. So I bought an external SSD, and used a Time Machine backup taken just before the OSX update to restore OSX Sierra to the external drive. Now I can boot to the external old OS and use my app, or boot to the internal drive for the current OS. Half the cost of upgrading my app. The Time Machine restore was easy and painless.

The ones I have at my office do not run warm and battery life easily exceeds the rated life of ten hours as listed and some of them are running some heavy duty software. You have something wrong with yours. Have it checked out.

My late 2012 MacPro is still working great. Every problem I have had was my own fault , doing something wrong. I’ll stick with what thus far has been my best laptop . Battery is not a good as when new. But I can still get 6 hours from it .

OS 9 was so bad that I’d have multiple system crashes every day. I was seriously considering abandoning Apple at that point. Then OS X came out and, for the first time, “stability” really did improve.

I remember. You'd be working along and suddenly... uh oh. Drat. How many open documents do I have?! Arg! Reboot. Wait.

Your anecdote is a reminder to all:

BACK UP REGULARLY, AND ESPECIALLY BEFORE DOING ANY UPGRADES or installing new software.
