Probably would have evolved armored butterflies.

Or iron butterflies.

It’s a moot point. Things don’t create themselves.

Weird how some of these physicists seem unable to grasp the importance of confirming causality.

There are no known, verified truths ontologically dependent on those aspects of evolutionary biology which are imaginary or fabricated.

“What if Archduke Ferdinand shot back? What if Lincoln shot back?”

Or... what if they’d both ducked - JUST in the nick of time?

Seriously though, the whole notion of “evolution” is nonsensical. Mutations do not dominate. Unless you’re watching the Sy Fy channel.

Amazing that this author totally missed the origin of the Butterfly Effect - Bradbury's Sound of Thunder where the protagonist goes dinosaur hunting then returns to the present to find radical changes in the language.

The guy broke an important rule by stepping off the approved path. Upon inspection his boot had a butterfly wedged in the sole. Hence the impact of a small alteration of the past leading to something different in the future.

Ray Bradbury = an American treasure.

So there should be millions of transitory fossils and species yet there are none. You have to have a lot of faith to believe in evolution.

How did life begin?

How are all these people stepping on butterflies? It my experience it’s hard to even really get close to them because they are well, flying.

I’m sorry, but word salad does not equate to a reasoned, evidenced based argument.

What I meant was the following.

Nothing we know to be true is dependent on the theory of evolution.

The story is mentioned by name in the article.

Actually, there are tons of transitory fossils, and they tell the story quite well. Furthermore, it takes absolutely no faith to sequence the same gene across a number of species, analyze the sequences against each other, and derive a phylogenetic tree from the data. And the fact that the phylogenetic tree derived from molecular data so closely matches the evolutionary trees derived from paleontological and geologic studies is an excellent corroboration that the science is accurately capturing the essence of real processes.

Don’t tell me, let me guess—you are a science denier, much like those who claim that X and Y chromosomes have nothing to do with gender.

Sometimes, they will land on you. Sometimes, they will not leave even if you try to get them to crawl off onto a nearby bush. I think that if any butterflies are being stepped on, it is those who develop sudden and inexplicable attachments to humans. I know about this, having become an object of a butterfly’s affections while visiting a butterfly exhibit.

There are plenty of critical events in evolution that occurred only one time or a couple of times.

Eukaryotes only appeared one time. Eukaryotes split into animals and plants only one time. Animals and insects diverged only one time. Photosynthesis evolved only one time. Mitochondria appeared only one time. There was only one last universal common ancestor.

Actually, most of my work in the medical research field is incredibly dependent on understanding the theory of evolution. I’d say that it is pretty important in everyday life. Granted, everyday life for a research scientist is not typical of most people’s lives...

Give me one scientific fact that can only be true if the theory of evolution is true.

I say there are none.
