Elizabeth Warren in Beijing: US to push China to open markets
Al Jazeera [Yes, I know...] ^ | 1 April 2018

US policy towards China has been misdirected for decades and policymakers are now recalibrating ties, Senator Elizabeth Warren told reporters during a visit to Beijing amid heightened trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.

The Massachusetts Democrat and Trump foe, who has been touted as a potential 2020 presidential candidate despite rejecting such speculation, has said US trade policy needs a rethink and that she is not afraid of tariffs.

Misdirected policy

After years of mistakenly assuming economic engagement would lead to a more open China, the US government was waking up to Chinese demands for US companies to give up their know-how in exchange for access to its market, Warren said.

"The whole policy was misdirected. We told ourselves a happy-face story that never fit with the facts," Warren told reporters on Saturday, during a three-day visit to China that began on Friday.

Poor reporting there. It should have read:

Senator Elizabeth Warren told reporters during a taxpayer-funded vacation to Beijing...

The ChiComms don't operate in a vacuum. They're hoping to generate some tension with this on the American front - that's why Warren was invited to speak in the ROC.

Warren is a useful idiot.

Warren is a VIP in China.

No influence. No standing.

She’s just treated well, tolerated and sent packing with nothing.

A VIP.

This woman has zero... NO clue what the hell is going on- even after Kim fat boy’s armoured train made the trip to Beijing from Pyongyang, and there were some other major players there to meet with him besides Xi. She is quite incompetent, informed by her desires and self-righteousness.

Amazing how far President has pushed the narrative on China and trade.

Before he was elected, the best our political hacks told us we could do was manage and slow down the inevitable, irreversible decline of the United States.

Our POTUS is, was, and will be beating the Demwits on the trade deficit issue alone, and the Squaw-kbox figured it out. She'll be pushing the Trans-Pacific Partnership though, which is merely more of the same acquiesance that brought about the problem in the first place. Thanks COBOL2Java.
