Why are you talking about Sanhedrin gibberish and not the official Chief Rabbinate in Israel? Is that not a legal entity? Is it not recognized by Jewish law as the Chief Rabbinate in Israel? Is it not part of the Jewish judicial system dealing with matters related to Jewish religion? So why are you talking about all this unrelated stuff instead of the Chief Rabbinate?
Um, no. Israeli law basically says “our government is separate from religion; each group go make their own rules.”
So why are there all these articles, if I google it, of Leftist Jews complaining "we're supposed to be a secular government, but we have this Chief Rabbinate thing in our country making all these decisions that affect the entire country?"
