“The Micro-CT analysis and a close examination of the surface have shown that a yew trunk was cut longitudinally into two halves.”
Hard to do with tools made of wood or stone.

Did I read that correctly, they found the oldest democrat tools on some peninsula?
Considering few of them actually work, what would they be doing with tools?

I thought these were the lizards spying on Iran. Maybe just a turtle and a snake.

... the sediment that bears the wooden remains indicate that the objects were deposited around 90,000 years ago, and thus were made by neandertals.

I think they mean ‘split,’ not ‘cut’. That’s why they also show signs of having been smoothed by sharp stones. I would bet Neanderthals didn’t like splinters any more than we do.

Send them to England. With knife bans,
these tools are modern again.

Original Craftsman tools.
They can be turned in at Sears if Sears is not extinct for some new antlers.

I’m picturing a Neanderthal with a bandsaw in the back room of his cave.

"They may still walk among us.... " You are correct. We are the Neanderthals.
Every feature used to describe Neanderthals can be found amoungst us today. The Australian Aboriginies have brow ridges more severe than did the Neanderthals.
