"It might make you feel better (or worse) to know that asteroids enter Earth’s atmosphere unnoticed on a fairly regular basis." from EarthSky

It doesn't make me feel better that all of the so called experts and observers who claim to be watching all of the time could be taken by surprise like this.

Kind of like a person getting mugged in an above ground garage while the attendant supposed to be watching the cameras just went out to buy a lottery ticket. Or even worst if that state does not allow concealed carry.

Couldn't help myself there.

Ooh, my favorite kind of surprise, y'know, as long as it misses. ;^) Thanks fieldmarshaldj.

Asteroid 2018 GE3 flew past us today, half the distance to the Moon. Around 50-100 m in diameter, it was several times the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor, around the size of the 1908 Tunguska event ~ easily enough to destroy a city. We had less than a day's warning. -- Andrew Rader [NASA Basically Missed a Huge Asteroid That Passed Unnervingly Close to Earth]
