At least David Gilmour is a “polite” socialist.

There’s always been debates among Floyd fans who made them great, Waters or Gilmour. You’re very apt to notice that they are better than the sum of their parts, but I’d also add that Rick Wright was the one most responsible for their sound, and that their sound was what turned some rather mediocre pieces into classics.

I guess what people believe is not of my concern until they try to make it my concern by legitimizing it via legislation (homosexuality) or making me pay for it (Welfare and other forms of wealth redistribution)

Didn’t know where Gilmour was on this. I know there are a lot of actors and musicians whose work I enjoy, but I don’t see them on a podium erected for them due to their work, using it to sway others to their destructive points of view.

I know, I am probably preaching to the choir on this.

... the music songwriting from the Division Bell and most of A Momentary Lapse of Reason is pretty terrible. The sound alone saves them. But you can’t say its because of the lack of Roger Waters; The Final Cut was disastrous.

No question that you understand more about Floyd musically than I do. But if it was Wright who developed the unique Floyd sound, then you are 100% correct. It reminds me a little of the Moody Blues. Initially their manager wanted to turn them into a clone of the Beatles. Their first song, I’ve Already Said Goodbye, reflects as much.

Then the band went off by themselves and developed a unique sound. Success followed. [Which is not to compare the Moody Blues to Floyd musically. The former were creative, engaging crowd pleasers. Floyd was a singularly talented group that broke new ground musically. Their music is just amazing, and has masterfully withstood the test of time.]

LOL, I keep expecting to see this someday:

Although, to be honest, it is getting harder and harder to tell those old rockers apart. That could be Richards himself on the front of that rag...

Meanwhile Netflix has a documentary praising the White Helmets.

While I don’t support Waters’ position on Israel, is it anti-Semitic to be against the state of Israel? I mean...are the True Torah Jews - who IIRC are opposed to the formation of the modern state of Israel - anti-Semitic?? Serious question.

‘“Whatever definition of anti-Semitism you abide by…Roger Waters is most certainly guilty,” says the B’nai Brith Canada CEO, who initiated the screening of the film exposing Roger Waters.

Ahead of former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters’ Canadian tour in October, B’nai Brith Canada and award-winning filmmaker Ian Halperin are set to premiere a new film—“Wish You Weren’t Here”—exposing the anti-Israel rocker’s history of promoting anti-Semitism.

Waters—who has compared the Israeli government to Nazi Germany and has claimed the “powerful Jewish lobby” runs the media—is arguably the most vocal figure behind the anti-Israel BDS movement. He is also the most prominent voice in pressuring other artists to boycott performances in the Jewish state.’

snip

‘“What Roger Waters is doing is espousing hatred, vitriol and extreme prejudice against Israel and the Jewish people…if he’d been doing this against any other race he’d be stopped,” New York Times bestselling author Halperin, the film’s producer, told JNS.org.’

You did not answer my question.

Do any of these organizations consider Bibical Christianity and opposition to socialism to be racist and/or anti-Semitic?

You’ll need to pose that question to someone else. It has nothing/zero to do with the point I discussed in this thread. That point was Waters’ antisemitism. That he is an antisemite is well established. If you need more info, then consider that Waters relentlessly pushed the BDS movement. Here’s the kind of company he therefore keeps:

‘Money quote:

Clubs that endorsed the [BDS] petition include NYU Mexican Student Association, NYU Sanctuary Student Taskforce, NYU Young Democratic Socialists of America, Black Students Union, NYU Against Fascism, Student Labor Action Movement at NYU, and many more.

People of color hating Jews. I would recommend Jewish alumni boycott NYU.’

Rick Wright was the one most responsible for their sound

Unquestionably true. Wright's keyboards were the canvas on which Floyd painted.

It may sound cliché-ish, but when you hear Wright play, you don't really hear the keyboards, you hear the music.

My point is that being opposed to Israel does not equate to anti-Semitism. You have given me any evidence that Roger Waters hates people of the Jewish faith.

It was the concert he got sued for when he released a giant inflatable pig with wings (40 ft high?) that had “F**k Bush” on one side and “Vote Democrat

He did the same this year substituting Trump. I had purchased tickets and asked for a refund when I found out it was a political event not a musical show.

Why do some “Conservatives” fall for the same anti-investigative notion, seen most prevalent among Liberal sheeple, that celebrities are “experts” on anything other than whatever talent made them a celebrity?

I’m not going to debate this with you. I told you politely that I wasn’t interested. Apparently it’s an obsession with you, because you can’t or won’t let it go. I went so far as to find a Jewish POV for you. If you want to debate someone, the author accepts questions. Debate him.

Now kindly leave me alone.

Does being against the State of Israel automatically make you antisemitic?

Not automatically. Maybe he just didn’t think it all the way through. But when you think of it, the conclusion is positive. One who’s against Israel, is also against the existance of the Jewish people.

When Jews didn’t have a state of their own, there were pogroms, genocides, and a lot of discrimination against them. Seeing the current antisemitism in Europe and other countries doesn’t make me think that anything has changed.

If Jews were to receive another piece of land instead of the land of Israel (like Uganda that was offered as an option decades before Israel was established), would the locals population would have welcomed the new immigrants? Would the Jews would have been welcomed ANYWHERE?

There’s no place for Jews on this earth, except for the land of Israel, and even this land, which is our origin land, did not come easy.

So basically one who wants Israel gone, also wants the Jewish people gone.

Celebrities aren't 'experts'. I only like them when I agree with them. I don't like too many.

Now when Snooki or Kim speak I listen.

Your attitude epitomizes a time in the future in a novel by Robert Heinlein (his last) wherein in a United States in a state of great decay exhibits universally the degrading habit of lifting up of it’s celebrities as experts on everything, and from that having derived the deterioration of society by the ideas sold and promoted to a highly ignorant society by celebrities.

I wish I could have warned you. Damn, it was 14 years ago, and I am STILL angry about it.

Well, you and I won’t make THAT mistake again. I hope you got a refund...it never even occurred to me to ask...
