“An actual person (as hard as that is to believe), not a character on Harry’s series ...”

And a juggler no less.
Like any possible character on the show.

The first eight words from the NYT tells you he was a leftist.

I never liked the show, so I never watched it. Surprised so many FReepers liked it.

“It really broke my heart when I found out Markie is a lesbian.”

What?

I know there are rumors that Post had an affair with Hilly Clinton of all people, but she’s been married to the same guy for 36 years and has two kids with him.

Night Court is among my all time favorites. It was very fresh, irreverent, and original. John Laroquette stole the show but everybody was great in it. I was hooked, right from the 1st episode when it was a summer replacement show. True, the characters got more outrageous, but that is the way comedy shows go.

Interesting question.

A person hospitalized and subsequently died of influenza would be reported to the CDC.
The CDC would know whether Mr. Anderson received a flu shot, and also know the type.

It was right after my wife passed away so I remember the time frame because I kept the tv on for background noise.
It was some show about people coming out and she was saying that the social acceptance of homosexuality today made it easier for someone like her to finally admit her sexuality.

As for being married long-term she wouldn’t be the first. And being a lesbian wouldn’t keep her from having kids.
For most of her career being tagged as homosexual was a career killer, even after Rock Hudson died in 1985.

Harry landed at my high school as a sophomore mid year. Left after his junior year and graduated from North Hollywood High. He was a year behind me but he was brilliant so he was bumped up to higher level classes. He was in my English, and Chemistry class. He was incredibly likeable and entertained his fellow students every day. He was in every production our theater put on. I think his portrayal of the lead character in “Harvey” was as good as Stewart’s. His magic tricks (at age 16 and 17) are still among the best I’ve ever seen.
RIP Harry.

I can’t find any evidence of what you’re saying. If Markie Post - who was a well-known TV star in her day and is still married to the father of her children - had said she was a lesbian you would think there would be info on that somewhere.

“””Post is married to actor and writer Michael A. Ross, and has two daughters.[12] She was previously married to Stephen Knox, whom she met at Lewis and Clark College.[3]

The article quoted Harry as saying he had a colorful childhood.
His dad wasn’t a part of his life and his mom moved around a bit and had “many boyfriends”. She was “doing what she had to do to keep the family together”.

He admitted to some scrapes with the law such as running sidewalk card and shell games. He was doing his bit to help out.
He said he found it strange that people called his behavior colorful but his mom’s behavior scandalous.

I’m glad to hear from an eyewitness what kind of guy he was. He came across as so darn likeable you couldn’t help but be his friend. I think that was a large part of the success of the show.
As Ronald Reagan said, “the camera doesn’t lie”.

I hope he knew Christ, because even heaven can use a good magician who loves to make people laugh.

It was about two years ago and she was only on the show for a minute.
I definitely remember rewinding it so I could make sure I heard what I thought I heard.

If I am somehow wrong I apologize to Markie and all others.
But I don’t think I’m wrong.

My memory failed. I thought the show had started earlier than it did. It seemed like a 70s era show. 80s, I associate with Miami Vice and Married with Children.

Compared to most of what was on it was more of a 70’s era show. Even with it’s liberal bent.
Miami Vice was a show I never watched.
Like most men at the time I was watching Married...With Children for Kelly Bundy. America’s favorite tramp.

Nice broad comedy, plus the attractive broad Markie Post. She later paid the bucks to the Clinton grifters to allow her to stay overnight in the Lincoln bedroom, if memory serves.
