Apparently the firings were done according to two criteria: Cost of contract and support for Trump.
People whose contracts were expensive were almost all fired. People whose contracts were less expensive were either kept or fired depending on how pro- or anti-Trump they were.

It's not clear if Erickson was 'fired' but his blogging account there was terminated.
According to him he’d been gone three years but they just now disabled his accounts, passwords, etc.
Let’s face it - none of us are getting any younger and the same goes for web sites, especially those that are linked in some way to a particular candidate, movement or subgroup of a political party. Some ‘churn’ was inevitable as times, candidates and officeholders change.
Winning!
Erick, The Red sold Redstate to Hugh Hewlett in 2015.
That place used to be my daily until hot air. I got banned by Neil Stevens once for something or another and never came back. Glad to see he got fired yesterday.
Then when hot gas went to crap too, I made a concerted effort to make sure I never clicked on any of their links. Glad my efforts paid off! I’m going to pop some champagne when allahpundit finally get put out to pasture.
RINO Hugh Hewlett owns Restate, Hot Air and Townhall.
I don’t give any clicks to these sites ever.
I wish Jim would ban all 3 from FR.
I didn’t know Hugh Hewitt owned Townhall, too. That explains some of the cr&p I’ve seen there. They do still have some real conservative writers, though. Mike Adams would be one, in my opinion.
It's now owned by TownHall which is owned by Salem Media Group.
This blogger tells us that he analyzed what positions he should take to attract the biggest audience before he started his blog, rather than considering what he believes and try to attract readers whom agree with him.
I’m not interested in reading opinions that are nothing more than marketing a manufactured product.
To me, your saying “I wish Jim would ban all 3 from FR.” in your post about Redstate, Hotair, and Townhall, sounds like you are of the same mind set of the leftists whom several of us decry of wanting to ban whatever they disagree with.
You already don’t click on them, why just not click on the posts here in FR that Freepers who like them or are not afraid of reading them, who post them?
There are numerous sites banned here.
If Freepers want to read articles from these 3 sites,
Just go directly to the sites to get your fill
of NeverTrump articles.
Why not just go directly to these sites?
I have no need to “get your fill of NeverTrump articles,” as I rarely read them. I just prefer that people be allowed to post articles from as many sources as possible here on FR. Jim has banned some sites for what I consider good reasons, but I rarely see a need to “ban” a site because I politically disagree with the articles it carries.
The existence of Red State is interesting. Imagine a liberal version called Blue State. Imagine Blue State having writers bashing Obama earlier this decade.
