Taiwan has become more and more of an asset to China over the last two decades.
It would be stupid to destroy that asset.
The Chinese tend to be fairly smart... But they have made many bad decisions in the past.
When Hong Kong reverted back to the mainland there was speculation as to whether the ChiComs would kill the “golden goose” or not. Thus far they haven’t. The aren’t stupid.
