I agree.
The Confederacy had the better generals. They cared about their troops and defending their homeland.
Many of the Union generals were careerists and political operatives angling for influence and approval from Congress and the press.
I don’t buy the notion that the Confederate general staff was driven by more noble motives than the Union staff. There were winners and losers in both camps. But the Southern generals were just better militarily, as a ... general! ... rule.
