A Georgia inmate executed Friday for a 1996 shotgun slaying twitched briefly as the lethal injection flowed into his body and groaned, It burns, man.
Robert Earl Butts Jr., 40, was declared dead by a prison warden at 9:58 p.m. after the compounded barbiturate pentobarbital was injected into his body. Prison officials said he had declined to take a sedative.
Butts was convicted along with 41-year-old Marion Wilson Jr. in the March 1996 slaying of Donovan Corey Parks, an off-duty prison guard. Parks, 24, gave the men a ride outside a Walmart store in Milledgeville. The men then ordered him out of the car and fatally shot him, prosecutors said.

Yes, I imagine it did burn. I have a feeling this burn was only a foretaste of a far more severe - and everlasting - burning sensation. I hope he made peace with his Maker beforehand. Prayers for his family, and even more prayers for any surviving family/relations of his helpless and unsuspecting victim. Murdered for offering too hoodlums a ride. Cretins like this make it hard sometimes to want to turn the cheek.

Read further about the accomplice:
“...Wilsons case is still pending.”
I did get a kick out the guy’s last requests for anything. “I’ve been drinking coffee all day.”

Maybe it’s because I’m super sleepy, but this headline makes no sense.

I read the article looking for that. I don’t know - maybe the guy that gave them a ride said some rude things. But they didn’t mention it. But I’m guessing it is auto correct for “off-duty”. Not sure if one can blame auto-correct for a headline though - no proof readers at the paper??

he was 18...I feel bad for such a wasted life.... Donovan Parks was only 24 and didn't get much of a life. You look at someone 18 and shake your head...old enough to know better. Shouldn't have taken that long for justice though.

I read about it all the time. We had a guy near me kill a taxi driver a month after he turned 18. No real reason he did it. It is a waste.

Ridiculous it took that long. This is something else “politicians” say can’t be corrected. Once Trump drains the DOJ swamp, I hope he looks at this situation.

No, being a juvenile does not make you dumb.

I hope he looks at this situation. Agreed, draining the judiciary is another mandatory step.

A vicious cycle that does not to seem to end for some. I live near New Orleans and it can be pretty depressing. Young people with no value for life coming from dysfunctional families with no value for life, other than a life being another government check.
The guy that killed the taxi driver was actually from a decent family. That is what really surprises me.
