Fox News host Sean Hannity calls the White House switchboard nearly every night after his show to speak to President Trump, according to a new report.
Hannity, who sometimes talks to Trump multiple times a day, "fills the political void" left by former White House strategist Stephen Bannon, according to a source who spoke to New York Magazine.
And with Melania Trump reportedly sleeping in a separate bedroom, the President relies on Hannity "to decompress" at the end of the day, according to the report.
Former White House staffers Reince Priebus and Sean Spicer launched a campaign to limit Trump's media diet to Fox News in an attempt to control the Twitter tirades fueled by his anger over MSNBC or CNN reports.
The plot mostly worked, and one former White House official told the magazine Trump's Fox News consumption creates "a f--ked-up feedback loop" that puts the President in a "weird headspace."
And with Trump finding it hard to trust members of his own administration, he has turned to Hannity for validation from outside the White House, according to the report.
On most nights after his show broadcasts live at 9 p.m., Hannity will call the White House switchboard as one of a select number of authorized callers.
The two usually exchange pleasantries and talk about media ratings all while exclaiming "witch hunt" in between profanities, sources said.
It was also recently revealed in court that Hannity is a client of Michael Cohen — Trump's fixer who famously negotiated the $130,000 payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had sex with the President in 2006.
Hannity denied that Cohen had ever represented him, saying instead that he had "brief discussions with him about legal questions."
One source explained Hannity's relationship to Cohen by saying, "Because he was 'Trump's lawyer,' so Hannity sees that and assumes, If Trump thinks he's smart, then he's smart!"

Even if she were in ‘another bedroom’, so what? I have a friend who works incredibly long and erratic hours. When he comes home late he often sleeps in a another room so that he doesn't wake up his wife. I have another friend who has horrible insomnia, and the slightest noise or movement will wake her up. When she has had a bad run of sleepless nights her husband sleeps in another room so he doesn't disturb her sleep. Trump is the POTUS. I'm sure his hours are far from regular. The White House is a big place (even if not by Trump standards) and so who cares if they sleep in separate rooms from time to time.

I slept in another bedroom many times as a courtesy to my wife who worked full time and I played golf full time as a member at a private golf club. I snore loudly, so another bedroom was good!
Now about Melania, was her son Barron conceived by artificial insemination? If not, Donald and Melania must have slept together!

OUTSTANDING if true. I would MUCH RATHER have Hannity, someone fully connected with the Republican base, advising Trump, than the (mostly gay) GOP leftovers from the Bush’s.
I just hope it’s true, for then I have NOTHING to worry about regarding Trump!
