“Handmaid’s Tale” Tries to Make It Look Like Pro-Life Christians Support Child Brides
Newsbusters ^ | May 17, 2018 | Lindsay Kornick

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale is obviously more pro-left-wing-feminism than pro-Christianity. In fact, the series disparages Christianity any chance it can get. The latest episode provides another example with the fascist Christian society America will supposedly turn into, called Gilead, somehow justifying child brides.

The May 16 episode “Seeds” features a ceremony known as “Pray-vaganza,” which is a term so ridiculous even the characters mock it. At this ceremony, the city is to honor the police force known as the Guardians, in particular Nick Blaine (Max Minghella), who has a secret relationship with Offred/June (Elizabeth Moss), Commander Fred's (Joseph Fiennes) handmaid.

Fred's hateful wife Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) learns of the affair between Nick and June and quickly arranges for the ceremony to turn into a mass wedding, much to June’s shock and dismay. But the reveal of the brides is even more depressing, namely how young they look.

Priest: And therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife. And they shall be one flesh. I now pronounce you man and wife.

Serena: They look so beautiful.

Priest: God blessed them. God said unto them “Be fruitful and multiply. Replenish the Earth.” May the Lord order your steps now and all the days of your life.

Here we have yet another depiction of how people consider the Judeo-Christian religion as a backwards, torture-based nightmare. In this society, people marry off underage girls to a round of applause and use Bible verses to justify it. It’s the perfect embodiment of everything liberals irrationally fear of conservatives.

Meanwhile, in the real world, some of the countries that have the highest rates of child brides, like Niger, Chad, and Bangladesh are, in fact, Muslim-majority nations. Combined with the image of veiled girls being forced into servitude, the show once again easily parallels extremist Islam practices but uses them to somehow smear Christianity.

However, there is one surprising bright side to the episode. In the final scene, June is kept in a hospital after complications with her pregnancy. Alone, she directly addresses her unborn baby for the first time and vows, “I will not let you grow up in this place... They do not own you. And they do not own what you will become.”

Despite the clearly anti-religious attitude along with the obvious feminist propaganda, the protagonist still recognizes the inherent value in an unborn life. With the current climate of demanding abortion on the taxpayers’ dime, that is the true resistance.

The preview shows the 15 year old child bride "consummating" her marriage to her new husband, who is in his 30's. The actress herself isn't underage, but it's creepy as heck.

The book the series is based upon consistently portrays Christians as behaving like they are Muslims who live in Saudi Arabia. The author has been challenged on that and says Ït’s fiction”

Leftist really think this what a Christian society would look like despite the fact that they can never point to one that looked like that.

I understand that companies like Hulu and Netflix have to cater to a broad audience to make a profit. I am not going to agree, enjoy or approve of every video they produce or show but that book is so flawed, so hateful and so filled with demonstrably false presumptions U refuse to even consider Hulu as an option for streaming video.

Setting this show in the reality of the Mohammadanism cult rather than fake Christian would be truly courageous. Of course, the deranged leftist scum like the moronic Elisabeth Moss, would rather it attack Christians than tell the truth on the REAL group practicing such misogyny.

Probably loony Margaret Atwood is keying off the horrible story of Warren Jeffs and the YFZ Ranch, a pseudo-Mormon cult in which teenaged girls were raped and sexualized by Jeffs and others.

She is (I suspect) using this criminal to stigmatize all Christians.

This makes as much sense as me identifying all Canadians with bus-passenger decapitator Vincent Weiguang Li, or with Robert Pickton, the mass-murdering hog farmer from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, who killed, butchered, and sold the flesh of dozens of prostitutes from Vancouver's "downtown east side."

Liberal secularists look at modern Christians as would-be Taliban while ignoring the repeated modern Islamic theocracies that look like this: Al Shabab, Boko Haram, Taliban, ISIS.

Their refusal to condemn Islam’s repeated modern theocracies is damning.
Their paranoia that modern Christians are closeted violent theocrats is insane paranoia.

They’re afraid of the wrong faith, and the world suffers for it.

If they were honest, they use Muslims.

Who watches that show, other than people who already hated God before it came on the air?

The haters purposefully used "Handmaid" to anger Catholics
b/c Mary the mother of Jesus is frequently referred to as the "handmaid of the Lord."

I watched the movie with Robert Duvall and Faye Dunaway. It wasn’t bad and there were no child brides that I remember.

What is highly ironic is the show’s star, Elizabeth Moss is an Scientologist(or so I read a few days ago)

Scientology is more like the “Handmaid’s Tale” as in choosing it’s mates, opposing homosexuality and coercing it’s members than Christianity ever did.

Yet she brazenly denies the similarities when questioned by a “fan’ of the show.
Hollywood accusing it’s foes of what it practices every day.

Warren Jeffs wasn’t a known figure back when this book was written during Reagan’s first term.

This is a point blank slander of Christians and Christianity.

These loons had little or nothing with “inspiring” this work of (bad)fiction.

Hulu is one of the companies that caved to Camera Hogg's fascist demands to remove advertising from Laura Ingraham's show. Why would any conservative give them money, "Handmaid's Tale" or not?

The book was written a long time before Warren Jeffs was in the news.

She just hates Christians.

Well she hates normals too.

It’s a shame that someone as talented as Margaret Atwood
(started reading her novels in High School) would sell out to these absolute leftist jerk-offs.

But - since she’s a Liberal, I guess it’s OK that she uses CAPITALISTIC ways to make even MORE cold, hard, cash.

RE: Stephen King, that fat slob Michael Moore, et al.

The same Christian hatred is embodied in “A Gift Upon the Shore” and Sheri Tepper’s works.
The evil Christians revert to oppressive Old Testament everything. Tepper hates strong men, too.

Yeah exactly. it’s amazing how badly they get it wrong. This show is portraying an Islamic society and pretending that’s what Christians want.

If it was honest it would have never been written. Such a dystopian world could never exist in a modern Christian society.
