It's too bad that some people want to turn this thread into a running joke about about "cougars", but the cat is no joke.

These animals are big, powerful, beautiful ... and scary. One swat of those claws can take your face off. Yes they purr, but you don't ever want to get that close.

As an aside - Natives in the Pacific Northwest would "anthropomorphize" every animal around them in story and legend, and put them on their totem poles ... all except for one ... the cougar, because they considered it to have no human qualities.
