Climbs a tree and calls 911.
The fire department comes and gets her.
Is it just me or is there something a little over the top here?
The Saugus fire department assisted the woman, and she and the dog escaped uninjured.
...
I’m glad the dog is OK.
Owooo! Baby, Baby!
I thought
Wow, you leave your dog to the mercy of that wild animal.
What kind of pet mom are you?
/S
The unidentified woman told a 911 dispatcher that at least one coyote was about 400 feet away staring at her and her dog, which remained on the ground. She shouted down to bystanders to avoid the animals.
**********************
The one coyote was 400 ft away..... but he had her surrounded!
Her dog stayed at th he base of the tree.
Hope they took the Looney Lefty to the mental hospital.
The nut was up in a tree while bystanders stood around.
Imagine her reaction if she has seen a mean nasty gun!
I’m in rural East Tennessee. When I let my dog out {a 10 lb Toy Ratty}I always take my pistol along just for Yotes. If you ever had a pack of them start yelping within a 100 ft of you I’d say anyone with common sense would do no less. They are wild animals and pack animals. They aren’t native here and our so called state Wildlife Resources Agency made no attempts to stop them once they had crossed Big Muddy in the 1970’s thereabouts and got started east of the Mississippi river.
It’s Massachusetts no wonder the coyote is still alive.
We shoot them on sight here.
Only a little over the top, climbing the tree was a bit much, call 911 to just report the hazard would have been appropriate.
Coyotes, especially since they are susceptible to rabies, are not harmless animals. They can cause serious injuries. Always respect a predator, give them a wide birth.

The fact that her dog did not die gives truth to the lie
My wife walks the dog at a local park. Twice it has taken off after a coyote. At 75 pounds I’m guessing he is probably a bit heavier than they are. He’s in great shape and fast, but thank goodness not fast enough. I’m sure even a suburban coyote has better fighting skills than my mutt. “Wait - you don’t want to play!?” Although he has been in one fight in his life when another similar sized dog attacked him - he came out on top, so one never knows.
My wife has finally stopped debating whether to get a gun or not. Of course now it is “I’m not sure what I want to buy?”
... and her poor dog still loves her anyway, bless her heart.
In my area they are pretty much solitary. We never see more than one at a time.
... 400 feet away staring at her and her dog,
***********************************
That’s more than the length of a football field.
How did she see the coyote at all and determine it was staring at her and her dog? Coyotes are usually adept at not being seen during the daylight hours.
Calling BS on this woman’s story.
I think it’s is BS too, the original story said there were four coyotes - they would have had the dog for a snack.
We’ve had just one coyote attack locally that I’m aware, a schoolgirl waiting on a bus. Her parents fortunately were there, saw what was going on, ran out stopped the attack and tried to shoot it but it got away. Girl wasn’t severely injured. Very fortunate, she’s a small girl. Coyotes locally have only fairly recently reached sufficient number that you can hear them howling sometimes at night. Prior to that, if you saw a coyote it was solitary. A lot of people probably think it’s just a skinny, scruffy mixed breed stray dog and don’t realize what it is.
