HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A viral video involving Houston police officers is now under investigation after an officer was recorded ordering four individuals to exit a vehicle.
In a video recorded by Denee Harris, an officer can be heard over the loudspeaker saying, "Hands up! Put your hands up. Over your head! Pretend like we're going to shoot you."
"Why would he say that?" Harris said in the video.
Another officer confiscated one of the passenger's crutches,

Poor choice of words but I bet it got their attention. I must admit I smiled when I heard it.
I did, too. I can’t imagine being stopped by police and their weapons aiming at me....ancient me might just bend down and grab my ankle holster and shoot between my legs. Ha, ha. ha ha. (Will this statement be taken seriously? Good grief...I hope not. IT IS MADE IN JEST!!)
I was involved in a hit an run once. I was the hittee. It was going to take over an hour for the tow truck so I asked the police officer to drive me to a McDonald’s a mile down the road to wait.
Since he had a bunch of stuff on the front seat, I had to sit in the back. He joked about me taking off running when he opened the door to give the people in the restaurant a little show.
I didn’t run but thought it would be pretty funny. Plus I would have a story to tell about escaping the police.
I did drag race a cop once while he was on duty in a marked car.
What would happen to you if you said that to the cops?
They'd kill you, and get away with it.
No, you would be in serious trouble. The newly formed BUREAU OF HUMOR would judge your “jest” as a “Threatening statement” and you would be indicted and then tried.
When found GUILTY, you’d be sentenced to 120 days confinement listening to only Maxine Waters on the TV in your cell.
> Even in jest it was an inappropriate choice of words. <
I’m no fan of police overreach. But I think it all depends on what the stop was for. Was this a felony stop, one where weapons were involved? Or were they just pulled over for running a red light?
The article does not say. And that makes it irresponsible journalism. Par for the course these days.
That kind of stuff only works on TV shows. In the real world fractions of a second sometimes decide life or death matters. When four suspects are in one car and there is one cop, even two, bluster may work better than courtesy. A cop's actions are based on experience, not social decorum.
Whatever it takes to go home after the shift...
Shoulda pelted the rear of the car with shotgun bags, then asked the occupants of the car if they wished to properly raise their hands.
I’ma sick and tired of the idiots!
Cop told them 4 times to put their hands up. He merely let them know he was serious if they didn’t comply.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo is too busy engaging in partisan politics to do his job of managing the police department.
He needs to be replaced with someone who can do the job and also provide unbiased, non-partisan political leadership.
Houstonians do not pay his $280,000 per year salary so he can go do partisan political marches and make partisan political speeches.
No confidence.
If you can joke about it, you have thought about it.
Expect to be taken seriously in such statements and be prepared for a serious response from the "others". That's just part of the deal. Play on.
