All the commuter suburbs can accommodate this by building massive parking garages in their downtowns. As it is, the commuters expect DC to provide parking for the entire metro region every workday, and we're at the end of that game. No more room. The "automobile commute" should not be to downtown; it should be from your front door to your local Metrorail station.
Add new lanes to the existing interstates? What a joke. That's just building wider rush hour parking lots.
Hmmm. I wonder when that Canary Islands volcano is going to slide into the Atlantic? That will make this problem vanish.
Douchenozzles in M class BMWs and gold cufflinks b*tching about a toll? FOAD!
toll roads / hov lanes are for the convenience of the political elite who
are exempt from tolls.
Condensed version: virtue-signaling rent-seeker looking for big payout for his app.
Nah--keep it where it is. Why would we want to import that problem out west?
It’s not a tax problem, it’s a spending problem.
>>The obvious fix to this congestion is to diminish the size of the government.
I’ve said from the beginning that one measure of success of the Trump Administration would be a reduction, or even just a flatlining, of the value of DC suburban real estate.
Only a fraction of jobs require physical presence. All the commuting is a huge drain on the economy.
Retired last year from job in Rosslyn before EZ pass went into effect on I-66......I no longer have any reason to travel 66 in DC direction and refuse to do so. State has been so screwed by liberal Dems and RINOS. Northern VA totally sucks.
When you do run a poll both, you can go online and pay the just the toll if done in 30 days. At least in Chicago you can. I learned that last Summer... Still a hassle. I’m getting EZPass.
Liberals have ruined VA.
A very expensive road that soon no one will be using.
The obvious fix to this congestion is to diminish the size of the government.
Obvious to us, but not to the entitled 47%.
There are people who actually like toll roads.
They must be rich and disconnected from reality.
Tolls.... one of only a few “user” taxes that exist. Use the roads, pay for the roads (and the pensions, politics and the rest of what goes with corrupt government).
