President Donald Trump signaled Friday that U.S. and North Korean officials have reengaged in talks, praising their latest statement expressing a willingness to reenter discussions at any time, at any format" just a day after he canceled the historic summit with their leader, Kim Jong Un.
"We're going to see what happens. We're talking to them now," Trump said when asked by reporters outside the White House if the meeting with Kim is still on. "It was a very nice statement they put out. We'll see what happens."
The president also suggested that a summit could still occur on June 12, as previously scheduled. "It could even be the twelfth," he said.
Trump first broached the topic on Twitter earlier Friday, writing that he welcomed North Korea's decision to voice a willingness to reenter into dialogue. One day after calling off a planned meeting in Singapore between himself and Kim and warning the North Korean dictator about the United States formidable nuclear arsenal Trump took a more conciliatory tone, saying that further discussions could lead to enduring prosperity and peace.

What this means is that they don't really care about what is done on this issue or any other, but who's doing it. Their algorithm is very simple: if Trump's doing it, attack. If one of their own do the same thing, praise.
The Art Of The Deal.
Just throwing this out there, but there was talk of Kim being worried a coup might form in his absence.
Could Trump’s actions be a mechanism to help Kim? By cancelling the formal meeting in another country, it makes it more difficult to plan a coup. Conceivably, Trump and Kim could meet in secrecy or near-secrecy, or via video, or through their representatives and work out all the details without being subject to a formal, planned, scheduled summit.
Then it would just leave the formality of a signature meeting that could be planned in advance, yet not announced until the day before.
Given the media’s current reaction, it ends up being a huge personal gesture for Trump to take the heat in order to offer Kim assistance, putting Trump in a better negotiating position and insuring he’s not wasting time dealing with Kim only to have Kim kicked to the curb.
I don’t really care about all the theatrics (though its fun to watch - pass more popcorn).
What I care about is that we negotiate from a positon of strength and achieve the objectives: a nuclear disarmed, non threatening NK.
In this, and in a broader sense, not a single politician from either party could accomplish what Trump is doing. Its amazing and yet sad that such is the case (sad because we need a deeper bench). All I can say is I hope there are sufficient LEADERS inspired by what can be seen in Trump and that when Trumps terms (both of them) are over, that we will have leaders PREPARED to fill those shoes. Trump is doing amazing things for our future, but getting back to a stable and secure society will take a generation at least.
Trump has the cards.
This is called negotiating from a position of strength.
Unlike Captain Midnight.
It's the same with 'Morning Joe and his Smiling Sycophants'... they hate Trump more than Schumer and CNN combined. The show's motto is 'Trump is always wrong'...
Kim blinked.
LOL, Kim is sweating a possible coup? With that family I would suspect he would arrest his sister 1st before he left the country. She strikes me as posed to strike ant the most convenient time.
Watching President Trump just play the lying liberal lamestream media and the entire Democrat party the way he does just never gets old .... LOL!!!
That would be as great an explanation as any. Very good point.
Art of the deal at work.
Just for giggles... we should demand that the nork chick who said nasty things about Pence and threatened America be executed with a ZSU-23 AAA gun as a condition for talks.
See how far they will go.
Note to self: do not play poker with Trump!
For those that understand. Trump’s letter very nicely said I am spinning up my nuclear weapons at this moment, but if you are quick about it, maybe I won’t push my really, really big button.
