I lost all my boats in a gunning accident.
I have both the boat & pilot license because I live on the gulf coast in Florida. I am prepared, just in case.
Being there, I can see why.
We have a similar one here in Annapolis: “A drinking town with a sailing problem”. I think versions of that have made their way around all three US coasts.
Which means that the other guy is not an expert, because an expert sailor always presumes that the other guy is clueless, doesn't see him and will turn towards at the worst possible moment in violation of all rules, procedures and common sense.
