I spent two semesters as a visiting professor in the engineering school at Marmara University in Istanbul. The Turkish students I taught, both men and women, were fully on a par with the students I taught in American universities. If there's a problem,it isn't with the people themselves. It's with the system they live in.

Joe, I agree with you. I have very good Egyptian Muslim friends (still in Egypt) who are among the best and most intelligent people you’ll ever meet. They hate the radical nut-jobs as much if not more than anyone.

Just try telling them about The Lord Jesus Christ; His one, all-sufficient sacrifice on the cross of Calvary for their sins, and their need to believe upon and receive Him ALONE for the forgiveness of their sins and for eternal life and then tell me about how "civilized" they are.
You will be assaulted, arrested, tried, found guilty, thrown into a hell-hole Turkish prison and hanged.
Like I said; "civilized" ...not!

Apologies, but you taught the exceptions. Turks are exceptionally agnostic in the Izlamik world, close behind are Iranians. But the Arab, Pakistani, Bangladesh, South-Asian and African worlds are far, far different
Even among the Turks you interacted with Istanbul folk who are quite different from people in the east. And among the Istanbul folks you interacted with engineering students - so the exceptional of the exceptional of the exceptional!
