A computer/software, social media site, reports something is “trending”. Software reports things which are trending based on whatever the algorithm is. The “trending” items may or may not be the most watched, whatever the algorithm decides.

Social media sites, are increasing reporting _false_ “trending” and other “social” based info. Social sites _pretend_ to report what the people on the site are doing. But they report what the algorithm want to be reported, only.

It is amazing that a social site (Twitter) is reporting any truth about what is trending, anymore. Duh.

I agree re: Augustus. And there were other “good” emperors as well... Marcus Aurelius and Constantine come to mind. But Rome had long since ceased to be a true republic, and had become decadent and corrupt.

By Constantine’s day, the republic had been dead and gone for nearly 450 years. And Constantin’s focus wasn’t on restoring the republic, but on giving Rome a new national religion.

And what’s not to like about that?

Nothing in particular, but my original post complained that the Italians haven't had a decent government (not religion) since Julius Caesar helped destroy the republic.
