The thing about Pompeii is, it’s portrayed as a sudden event with no warning. Those poor victims!

Actually, Vesuvius had been erupting on and off for 16 years before that. So there were plenty of warnings that this was a dangerous area, which many people decided to ignore ... and ended up paying the price

Doesn’t Nature / God usually give some kind of warning of big events? Whether people want to heed that warning is their own choice

I've visited Pompeii once.It was in July...temp about 99...humidity about 99%...that visit having caused of the worst sunburn I've ever had.

I'd love to go back there on a cloudy,cool day in January...and I'd love to hit Herculaneum as well.
