I think the current Queen would rather be on life support for the next 40 years than rather hand the throne over to Charles.

Strange, Queen Elizabeth holds the crown because her uncle Edward abdicated the throne, in order to marry a divorcee. Her father, King George VI, was second in line when Edward abdicated.
Queen Elizabeth’s son, Charles, has married a divorcee. Her grandson, Harry, has married a divorcee. William, Charles’ son, is the only once who meets the original requirements to serve as king, yet she has stated in April of this year, that Charles will be king. This despite a report in 2016 that William would be her successor.
Again, my how things have changed. Poor Edward.
With the ongoing effective implementation of Sharia, the coronation of a non Moslem monarch becomes progressively irrelevant. I would not be terribly surprised or even chagrined if/when King Charles announces his Conversion.
