CNSNews.com) - The federal government cut 3,000 jobs in May and federal employment has now dropped by 24,000 since President Donald Trump took office, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Even as federal government jobs were declining, overall employment was increasing—as was employment in state and local government.

In April, there were 2,789,000 people employed in civilian federal government jobs. In May, that declined to 2,786,000, a drop of 3,000

Yep, very slow progress. But it’s at least the right direction.

How many people work for the EPA? This is simply an umbrella agency. Totally unnecessary.

Just resting on the plateau.

Before ascending peaks.

That’s not the entire story.

There may be about 2.5 million federal employees, but there are another 6.5 million contractors working in federal positions.

Actually it is kind of humorous to think of a gubmint teat-sucker moving into a private sector job and discovering that your new boss wants you on the job at 8am and expects to see your nose to the grindstone for 4 hours, then lunch, then another full 4 hours at the grindstone again. No political activity, no sleeping, no doing anything that is not job related.

Some will adjust ... most won’t and will try to join or form a union so they can get some sleep on the job.

Keep cutting until home prices drop in the DC area...and Northern Virginia turns RED again!

Total in government is 22,305,000. This includes state and local.

The current US population is 327,829,000.

That means there is one gov employee out of about every 14 people.

That's what it takes to rule you.

As older gubment workers retire, don’t replace them. I’d like to see the EPA and the State Department severely pruned and the adept of Education abolished.

It’s a win - a start... the beginning. It’s hope.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and the Swamp won’t be drained easily.

If you want to help the process vote a straight Republican ticket and take old Aunt Suzy to the polls if she’s Republican.

YOU want the swamp drained - DO YOUR PART like the rest of us will have to do too.

A painless way to RIF is a no-replace policy. If a govt worker retires or leaves, that position gets deleted rather than filled with a new hire.

President Trump has only been in office 18 months and is still transforming government agencies. It takes time to get rid of the “junk” at the top and middle levels; most of these people are descendants of the Clinton and Obama years. The pace will pick up as President Trump gets control of more agencies.

Keep the faith!

Also President Trump needs the help of Congress to get rid of government programs...get rid of a program...you wipe out whole departments full of jobs. But he needs more help from the DC critters.

Mick Mulvaney is President Trump’s designated “Hit Man” as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget; he is right now cutting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau down to size. When he is done there, he will move to the next target.
