OK, so it was a TV show, but based on a real forensic anthropologist, and the lead character in “BONES” was able to ID the gender and race of a 200 year old skeleton by certain bones, i.e, the width of one’s pelvis, the shape of the skull. I would think it’s pretty basic for anyone who has studied forensic anthropology.

I had to do that analysis in forensic anthro in college. A broken chunk of bone and we had to sex it. Difficult!
