Publix was on the receiving end of Hoggs latest stab at fascist activism thanks to the companys previous financial support for Adam Putnam, Floridas agriculture commissioner and a candidate for the GOP nomination for governor who is proud of the support he gets from the National Rifle Association.
In a Twitter post published a week before Fridays demonstrations, Hogg demanded a payment of $1 million from the supermarket chain to make up for its support of Putnam and tried to extort a humiliating promise from Publix to make its politics conform to a teenage liberals demands.
I call on @Publix to donate double the money they gave to Putman to the Stoneman Douglas Victims fund, $1,000,000. And never support an A rated NRA politician again.

While the supermarket chain tried to wiggle its way out of the protests by announcing it would stop all political donations, turning over what would amount to a $1 million extortion payment wasnt going to be in the cards. (Its not like the fund needs money anyway. According to Orlando Weekly, its already collected some $8.7 million.)
This week, Fred Guttenberg, a Hogg ally and the father of 14-year-old Parkland victim Jaime Guttenberg, published a series of Twitter posts recounting how Publix CEO Ted Jones had informed him on Tuesday that the company wasnt going to be victimized by a shakedown scheme.
Jones cited Fridays die-ins at two Florida locations as the reason, according to Gutttenberg. That would make sense to anyone who knows that an extortionist who finds a victim willing to pay will only keep demanding more, but Guttenberg proclaimed that he was shocked.
He had the gall to say to me that because the die in made this so political that he would not be able to come down here to meet with the Parkland kids and families, as a reminder we are customers, and that Publix would not be making any donation to the victims fund, Guttenberg wrote.
They are a business with workers of all political and physical stripes. Their customers are politically diverse. The best thing for their business is to be apolitical. I could see my old aunt who has shopped at Publix for as long as I can remember (more than 45 years) find another place to shop. She’s in her 80s. She’s a brainwashed liberal loon. I have spoken to her once since the 2016 election, and she was as nutty as can be about how Trump was in it for the money. hah.
They said this a couple of weeks ago, actually.
For me, though, the damage is already done.
That they would allow the little pukes on the premises to disrupt business and inconvenience paying customers has convinced me to take my grocery dollars to Winn-Dixie.
Wanna stop the die-in movement? Easy. Get a crowd together, step in dog crap and en mass, walk among the die-in and allow them the privilege and appreciation of life on the aisle floor.
Hogg needs to take some virtue signalling pimping lessons from the non-Reverend Jesse Jackson.
Kent State gun girl challenges Parkland survivor to arm wrestling contest for gun rights
LOL!
Didn’t take long for this POS to turn into a gangster.
“Publix CEO Ted Jones had informed him on Tuesday that the company wasnt going to be victimized by a shakedown scheme.”
Oh yoo hoo, Jeff...there is crime going on here right in front of your eyes but don’t over-exert yourself.
“Did the Mafia do things like this to extract protection money? I think this falls under RICO”
That’s how Al Capone started out....”street tax”.
Publix should have immediately said we don’t give in to extortion and political bullying attempts. People would have respected the company for standing up.
Instead it withered under the pressure. People will remember that for a long time. I know we will.
True Pundit is ten day late. This was covered when it happened
Someone needs to bitch-slap this Hogg pansy until he wants a gun, and then say “See????”
Where it happened is what kicked this off
Liberal Jewish Broward enclave
Its pitiful or poignant I suppose
This is an area of anti gun rights folks who saw their kids shot by something they live in fear of and dont support anyhow
Its like for them the Cossacks actuallyndid show up one day in the form of one nut with guns and a crazed mind
It was like a perfect storm for subsequent political activism and thats why this had such a wellspring more than most places
That area is progressivism activism central already
When I lived in Miami years ago Westin and Parkland were new....brand new
I can’t wait to see Hogg breath stomped into the mud by the pen.
See what I did there?
I agree with your premise, but once you RESPOND to political hits, such as they did by NOW saying they’ll be neutral, you’ve just stepped in it worse.
Ideally, they’d stay clear of politics. But since they were there already involved (at least by Camera Hogg’s definition), then they should have told him to f-off. And then, maybe 6 months from now, quietly change their rules/policies to become neutral. It is the buckling and/or ‘making a statement’ at a charged time that makes things MUCH WORSE, at least for many of us.

Yep, ALWAYS THE SAME - a panicked reaction in the hope that ‘it all goes away’, even though it never will, not by that means at least.

“When VW was being assaulted over the name Toureg...”
It’s Touareg.
:-)
The buzz is Hogg was home when it happened. He apparently writes for the school newspaper.
So when he heard about the massacre, he bicycled over to get the story.
WonderWant Hogg be wantin the payoff money.
