Gov. LePage will continue to slow-walk this turd by tossing it back to the legislature with the stipulation that its cost must be drawn from cutting existing spending. Maine’s job situation is quite rosy, and the only ones who aren’t working (other than the elderly or disabled) are those who want their lives subsidized. 70,000 on the waiting list? Patooie!
There is no waiting list. That is a fictious concept generated by the proponents. I think if forced to do this we would be hard pressed to find 10,000 eligible for the program. 70,000 is about 5% of the population of Maine. The disputed group is low income healthy single adults 20 to 60. There are not that many such persons in Maine.
