Suicide by state:

The study also broke down the data by state and found suicide rates varied widely. The most recent rates, for the years 2014 to 2016, ranged from a low of 6.9 per 100,000 residents per year in Washington, D.C., to a high of 29.2 per 100,000 residents in Montana.

During the entire study period, rates of suicide increased in nearly every state. Percentage increases over this time ranged from just under 6 percent in Delaware to over 57 percent in North Dakota.

"from a low of 6.9 per 100,000 residents per year in Washington, D.C."

People in DC just murder each other. Living in DC when you have a choice to go somewhere else borders on insanity.

Can be linked to social media use and massive reduction of one on one physical contact between teenagers. For example, Teenage pregnancies are down. Same reasons.

This is what happens when everybody gets a trophy, you never learn to handle life’s ups and downs. Between that and pushing gender confusion as the norm doesn’t help.

No, it is a mental health issue.

Ever think in part it may be the fact that an entire generation has been told how great they are despite having achieved nothing? When you are told you can do whatever you want as a child, then reality hits you as an adult you have no idea how to cope because you never had to cope with anything in your life.

Spades husband says there were no signs that she would do this, then turns around and says she was being treated for depression for the past 5 years.

Uh-huh. Let me get this straight...suicide at home is WRONG according to the CDC...but if you just call it ‘euthanasia’ and a doctor kills you then it’s just fine by the CDC.

Wonder what the state by state per capita numbers are versus the increase. Suppose DC already had a high rate, then the rate of increase would likely be smaller.

Sociopaths probably have a very low suicide rate.

Before I clicked the link, I said to myself, "The article will not mention the huge difference between male and female suicide rates in America."

And it did not. As usual.

The ratio in 2015 was 21 to 6.

A bunch of different prescription drugs, many of which are vastly overprescribed, and a society that creates then coddles ‘snowflakes’ who are enraged by every little thing is the primary cause. The combination is deadly. Not only leading to suicide, but murder.

The ME generation praises themselves above all else and constantly looks for pleasure and experiences while avoiding sacrifice. After a while, they discover that they just aren’t that into themselves.

Deep in the article, and after the following remarks: "While prevention efforts mainly focus on identifying and providing treatment for people with mental illness, experts say suicide is rarely caused by a single factor."

"In fact, researchers found that more than half of people who died by suicide during the study period did not have a known diagnosed mental health condition at the time of death." "The report found that firearms were the most common method of suicide for both those with and without mental illnesses."

we find the following:

"The CDC recommends everyone familiarize themselves with the warning signs of suicide, which may include: A person thinking about or threatening suicide or seeking a way to kill themself Increased substance abuse Feelings of purposelessness, anxiety, being trapped, or hopeless Withdrawing from people and activities Expressing unusual anger, recklessness, or mood changes."

Since when are the above five "warning signs" NOT of "mental health" category?

The point of my response is this article isn't really about suicide. It's about the guns being used to commit suicide. It's another article by another gun grabber blaming guns for something the gun really had no intention of doing.

The greatest increases were in red states. Could be conservatives with ODD (Obama Depression Disorder). I suspect that going forward from 2016, the rates will show a decrease in red states and an increase among TDS sufferers in blue states. :o)
