A Honduran immigrant reportedly took his own life while in custody after his wife and child were separated from him at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Marco Antonio Muñoz, 29, killed himself in the cell of a Texas jail last month, according to the Starr County sheriffs department incident report obtained by The Washington Post.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not publicly disclose the death, according to The Post. The Hill has reached out to DHS for comment. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Starr County authorities did not respond to The Washington Posts requests for comment.
Muñozs death occurred just weeks after the Trump administration announced it would crack down on illegal border crossings by prosecuting more parents and separating them from their children at the border.
Border Patrol agents familiar with the situation told the Post that Muñoz, his wife and three-year-old son were taken into custody after crossing the border into the U.S. near Granjeno, Texas. One agent speaking to the paper on the condition of anonymity said that after the family said they wanted to apply for asylum, they were told they would be separated.
The guy lost his s--t, the agent told the Post. They had to use physical force to take the child out of his hands.

If any returned illegal so much as gets a paper cut, you can bet the MSM will report about it.
This will be reported as Trump’s fault.
Suicidal people should not be granted entry.
That’ll be a big help to his family. And no doubt the demlibs will have even more reason to DEMAND these poor souls be let in. Okee dokee. Then you can support them out of your own pocket. How about that? Breaking and entering or at the very least trespassing and theft.
Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.
(well, well, well)
If I get my family over to the border of schmickistan and try to break in, I do not expect the same treatment as at the Four Seasons. Even just taking my assault rifle into Target to get me some cool summer equipment with my family, I just dont expect that we will be treated like golden customers.
Ok... and?
If he was honestly asking for asylum then he shouldve trusted the government he was begging for asylum from to handle his child and wife and that theyd be reunited.
Does the Hill actually think he suicided because he couldnt see his child? Now hell never see his child again - how is that good parenting?
That is very sad, and unnecessary, but we still have laws, and we cannot suspend them because the unstable will hurt themselves otherwise.
Life’s a bitch. And then you die!
(How would things have been different if he remained where he was?)
Now deport the rest of the gang!
>>Then you can support them out of your own pocket. How about that? Breaking and entering or at the very least trespassing and theft.<<
THAT is a great idea. It used to be that immigrants required sponsors to ensure they would not be a burden on the US taxpayers.
Start a registry of illegals/asylum seekers and allow liberals to be “adopt” a family a — be responsible for getting them green cards, pay for their food and shelter until the youngest is 18. Then, when liberals bark you can ask them for the registry numbers of the families they are sponsoring.
Expect every one of these type stories to be trumpeted by the MSM.
And expect every story about violence committed by illegals to be spiked at the source.
The MSM is scum.
Yep...Sob story after sob story from the leftist media...
What about all the illegal alien CRIME committed in this country, leftist media????
*crickets*
Mexico should have stopped them...
He broke U.S. immigration laws and was incarcerated.
If I broke the law and went to jail, I would expect to be separated from my family, too.
It’s not that hard to understand.
The ones who are in line during the day for asylum to the US go somewhere each night, sleep, eat and come back the next morning to get in line.
“Don’t cross the border
If you got a mental disorder”
And that will simply continue the general trend of increasing mistrust and skepticism towards the MSM in both the United States and Canada. They do that sort of thing at their own peril.
Considering the agenda and the forces behind it that are pushing, something like this is not beyond the realm of possibility....
Fire away...
