BBQ jokes aside, I have to hear about animals suffering for no reason. WTF was the employee thinking?

Probably running a Gus Fring-style drug lab out of the farm.

The employee responsible (McIntosh) has been fired. He still thinks he did the right thing.

Couldn’t have been worth his job. He wasn’t the owner.

The volunteer fire department responded to an emergency call to fight the blaze, but when they got there, an employee of the farm didn't let them in.

The real story. The volunteer firemen were Muslims and when they saw what was burning, went back to their firehouse screaming, "Allahu akhbar!" The employee's refusal to let them in was a cover story for their religious ecstasy.

How absolutely horrible, to be burned alive. And most of the 12,000 were piglets. Their squeals of pain and terror must have been horrible. I’m glad that employee was fired. Should have been shoved into one of the burning buildings. Probably instructed to fire the building for insurance. The company that owns the burned building AND pigs had a very similar fire at another pig farm in 2014 with 3500 pigs killed. That was just a warm-up to this, no pun intended.

This is the problem with putting genuinely incompetent people in positions of authority. They are incapable of believing anyone is able to do more than they can do. The employee is undoubtedly correct. If he had tried to fight the fire e could have died.
Unfortunately, for the pigs in the sort term, he was incapable of considering the likelihood that the professionally trained fire fighters knew how to deal with the fire. This is a classic example of an asshole.
