MURPHY, NC (WSPA) - A Cherokee Co., NC teacher is accused of sex acts with a student, according to Sheriff Derrick Palmer.
Palmer says they began an investigation into a report that Kayla Sprinkles had engaged in sex acts with a student while she was teaching at a Cherokee Co. High School on March 26.
The HAVEN Child Advocacy Center assisted in some of the interviews due to the age of the individuals interviewed, according to the report.
She was indicted on June 4 on 5 counts of Sex Activity with a Student.
Sprinkles found out about the indictment and left the area, according to the report.
She surrendered herself the the Mecklenburg Co. Detention Center and was released on a $25,000 bond.
Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “Our youth and our students are one of the greatest resources that Cherokee County is blessed to have. It is incumbent upon all of us to ensure their safety and wellbeing as they grow and mature.”
Ain't that the truth. All of my teachers looked like Barbara Mikulski or Rosa DeLauro.

A couple years ago I asked myself this question: Why is it that it used to be male teachers with female students until that Laterno thing. And now you never hear about male teachers with female students? I thought maybe men were too scared and women feel empowered.
Nope.
I researched it and found out that male teachers still do it more than female teachers. It’s just that when men do it it’s a “dog bites man” story. When women do it its a “man bites dog” story.
This speaks to how you can get a really skewed perspective on reality if you just take a cursory glance at all these stories. It’s why people tended to think that police were going crazy with an epidemic of killing unarmed black men. Except the stats don’t come close to supporting such nonsense. It’s a false meme.
So, far more male teachers do this, but it’s just not newsworthy.
Oh, and yeah. If she had been my teacher I’d have been totally game at that time.

One time I was sitting in a classroom and someone stuck their head in the door in the middle of class and asked what class it was. Without batting an eye, one of the more creative members of the class yelled, “It’s sex ed and today we’re having an oral test.”
